3rd WISLaw Conference & General Assembly hosted by FIFA in Zurich

Despina Mavromati participated in the 3rd WISLaw Annual Conference and General Assembly that was hosted by FIFA in Zurich on 14-15 November 2019. As a founder and board member of WISLaw, Despina also moderated a discussion on various “WISLaw Matters” with the members who attended the General Assembly. The Future of Sports Law and Business Conference - Etihad Stadium, Manchester U.K.

Despina Mavromati was a speaker at “The Future of Sports Law and Business” Conference that took place at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, UK on November 1, 2019. RFEF- FIFA Congress on Football Law in Madrid, Spain

On 27-28 September 2019, Despina Mavromati attended the International RFEF- FIFA Congress on Football Law that took place at the Headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation in Las Rozas, Madrid. More information about the conference and the program can be found here.

ThinkSport Conference organized by the University of Lausanne

Despina Mavromati participated in a round table on the future of sport and sport governance with several experts from the field. The fifth edition of the 2019 Sport Future Rendez-Vous took place on Wednesday 5th June 2019 from 16:15 to 20:30 with a keynote presentation by Mr. Thomas Bach, IOC President, Olympic champion fencing Montreal 1976. Round table at the 45th Sports Lawyers’ Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona

The 45th Annual Conference of the Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) took place in Phoenix, Arizona (USA) from May 16 to May 18, 2019. Despina Mavromati participated in a panel entitled “Teaching Sports Law” together with colleagues from US Universities, including Boston College Law School & Northwestern Law (Chicago). FIFA Master class on sports dispute resolution at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland

Like every year, Despina Mavromati taught a full morning class on Sports Dispute Resolution to the students of the 19th edition of the FIFA Master program at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. You can find more information about the FIFA Master program here.

Presentation on the UNESCO Anti-Doping Convention at the IX St. Petersburg Legal Forum

Despina Mavromati participated as a speaker at the IX St. Petersburg Legal Forum. The title of the round table was “Development of UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sport: Current Challenges and Prospects’. A summary of the discussion can be found here.

Presentation on eSports and Doping at the RexSport Congress in Madrid, Spain

Despina Mavromati delivered a presentation on “eSports and Doping” at the RexSport Conference held in Madrid on May 11, 2019. The conference included several thought-provoking sessions on the football transfer market but also eSports. Round Table on the protection of clean athletes at the PCC Conference in London, U.K.

The Partnership for Clean Competition (PCC) organized its second annual conference in London from April 16 to April 18, 2019. Despina Mavromati participated in a round table discussing the protection of clean athletes from a legal perspective. The panel was moderated by Brent Nowicki (CAS) and other panelists included Mike Morgan (Morgan Sports Law), Travis Tygard (USADA) & Adolpho Birch (NFL). WISLaw talk on football and jurisdiction hosted by the Hellenic Football Federation in Athens, Greece

WISLaw hosted its first evening talk in Athens, Greece, generously hosted by the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) on March 22, 2019. Despina Mavromati (WISLaw co-founder and Board Member) and Penny Konitsioti presented on some jurisdictional issues in domestic football cases followed by an interactive discussion among the participants. WISLaw talk on Article 10 WADA Code during the WADA Symposium in Lausanne

WISLaw organized a lunch talk during the World Anti-Doping Congress that took place in Lausanne on March 14, 2019. Despina Mavromati and Janie Soublière opened the floor followed by an interactive discussion on “The Practical Implications of the Anticipated Modifications to Article 10 WADA Code for Legal Counsel”. Second International Sports Law Journal (ISJL) Conference at the Asser Institute in The Hague

After the success of its first conference, the International Sports Law Journal (ISLJ) organized its second ISLJ Annual Conference in The Hague, on October 25-26, 2019. Despina Mavromati (editorial board member of the ISLJ) chaired a panel on the interdisciplinary aspects of sports regulation and presented on the Burden and Standard of Proof in CAS proceedings. The conference also featured a WISLaw lunch talk on the Pechstein Judgment, where all attendees could participate in an animated and interactive discussion. Harvard Law School - The Challenges when Drafting Sports Regulations: From Doping to Gender Classification

Despina Mavromati and Paul Greene discussed the challenges when drafting sports regulations (including doping and gender classification rules) at the Harvard Law School in Cambridge (MA) on October 16, 2018. You can find a summary of their talk here..

2nd WISLaw Conference and General Assembly at the Olympic Musem in Lausanne

As a co-founder and board member of WISLaw, Despina Mavromati co-organized and participated in a panel of the 2nd Annual WISLaw Conference and General Assembly at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne on September 20, 2018. Law In Sport Annual Conference in London - 2018

Despina Mavromati was a panellist at the Law In Sport Annual Conference that took place in London on September 13-14, 2018. Despina Mavromati gave a four-hour lecture on the Court of Arbitration for Sport & Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in Sport to the students of the FIFA Master Program of the CIES – University of Neuchâtel.

Despina Mavromati gave a presentation to the Members of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Tribunal in Lausanne on February 10, 2018.
